With its own airport and with direct flights servicing all major Australian cities, Shellharbour is a vibrant growing city.Population growth rates in Shellharbour are consistently above the average being driven by the in-migration of young families and couples attracted to the relatively affordable housing, employment opportunities and idyllic coastal location.A fabulous opportunity now exists for an ambitious finance professional to lead the City’s’ Finance Group as Executive Manager Financial Services (CFO) .

The Role

Reporting directly to the Executive Director Corporate Services, you will be leading a dedicated and talented team of finance professionals, all focused on supporting the City to deliver a vision for a vibrant, economically diversified and sustainable Shellharbour region. Further, the role will support a culture of financial discipline and accountability, transparency and continuous improvement in the organisation, providing financial leadership and reliability to the Shellharbour region, its people and the future.Functionally the role of Chief Financial Officer exercises overall responsibility for the operations of the Finance Group as well as the Shell Cove Marina Project and Shellharbour airport and includes the delivery of the financial statutory and legislative reporting requirements of the City.The position calls for a leader with highly developed skills in thinking strategically, lateral problem solving and sound stakeholder management.

Prepare strategic, business and operational plans and secure team support to achieve cost effective outcomes in line with strategic priorities.Management of financial planning and financial risks for the organisation including reporting and the analysis of data for the GM and Directors.Manage all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and management of funding.Responsibility for financial policies, procedures and systems including compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.Management of the budgeting forecast and cost management processes in alignment with Council’s strategic objectives.Participate as a Council representative on the Shell Cove Management Committee.Maximisation of efficiency and effectiveness with the central focus of the Group being financial management.Ensure the continuing development of an organisational culture consistent with the Council’s Purpose, Approach and Values.Manage the financial aspects of the business and operation activitiesAppoint and develop staff and set performance targets and indicators to ensure that the Financial Services Group are effectively deploying and co-ordinated to meet corporate, Directorate and individual goals

As an experienced finance professional (from either a government or private sector background) and leader of people, you will have a history of delivering sound financial organisational capability, building cultures that you and the organisation are proud of and being firmly focused on outcomes.
